The Ghost Town of Nothing…

The town’s sign encapsulated its tongue-in-cheek spirit:

“Town of Nothing Arizona. Founded 1977. Elevation 3269 ft. The staunch citizens of Nothing are full of Hope, Faith, and Believe in the work ethic. Thru the years, these dedicated people had faith in Nothing, hoped for Nothing, worked at Nothing, for Nothing.”Islands+6Atlas Obscura+6Arizona Department of Transportation+6

In 1988, a fire destroyed the bar, and despite efforts to rebuild, the town couldn’t sustain its population. By 2005, Nothing was abandoned. A brief revival occurred in 2009 when entrepreneur Mike Jensen opened a portable pizza stand, but regulatory challenges led to its closure by 2011 . In 2016, a promotional event allowed people to claim a 24-hour lease on a plot in Nothing, offering a literal gift of “Nothing” for Father’s Day .Drivin’ & Vibin’+9Islands+9Arizona Department of Transportation+9Islands+6Ghost Town Arizona+6Gribblenation+6Wikipedia+1Atlas Obscura+1
